December 16, 2004 marked the 50th anniversary of the successful repeatable synthesis of diamond.  In commemoration of the event a symposium was held in the Marriott Hotel in downtown Provo.

The H. Tracy Hall Foundation  gratefully acknowledges all whose participation contributed to the success of our commemoration.

This achievement was a significant focal point in modern industry and technology.  It marked the beginning of an important change in the industrial applications of diamond with major improvement of properties and grades along with many new tools.  It also produced an immediate world wide interest in the general field of high pressure research.
